The Lighting Controls Association has published a new offering in its popular Education Express system, EE203: Lighting and Commercial Building Energy Codes, Part 6: 2024 IECC.
Commercial building energy codes prescribe the design energy efficiency of new buildings and alterations. For lighting, these codes typically prescribe maximum lighting power allowances by building or space type. They also mandate detailed lighting control strategies that reduce or turn Off lighting when it isn’t needed, while providing manual control to occupants.
Published by the International Code Council (ICC), the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) has been adopted by most states as a commercial energy code, residential energy code, or both. Updated every three years since 2000, it applies to various energy-using systems installed in new construction, additions, and alterations, including electric lighting.
Authored by Craig DiLouie, LC, CLCP, this Education Express course provides general knowledge about the commercial building lighting control requirements in the 2024 revision of the IECC.
The course is registered with the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Continuing Education System (CES) and is recognized by the National Council on Quality in the Lighting Professions (NCQLP). It is required reading to prepare for NALMCO’s Certified Lighting Controls Professional (CLCP) exam and is recognized by the DesignLights Consortium (DLC) for advancing knowledge of networked lighting controls technology and application. The Lighting Controls Association is recognized by the State of California as a continuing education provider.
