Lighting Controls Association Joins Consortium to Advise the Department of Energy on High-Performance Green Building Issues
In response to a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) request for consortia to advise the department on high-performance building issues, ASHRAE led the formation of the High-Performance Commercial Green Building Partnership (HPCGBP). This Consortium brings together leading organizations from all aspects of the building community to provide guidance and technical leadership on key sustainability issues to the Department of Energy’s Building Technologies Program.

The Lighting Controls Association has announced that Hubbell Building Automation, Inc. (HBA) has joined as a new member. Hubbell Building Automation, headquartered in Austin, TX and a subsidiary of Hubbell Incorporated, is a manufacturer of a wide range of lighting controls such as networked control systems, occupancy sensors, daylighting controls and hi-bay controls.

Delta Controls Receives 2009 Best Practices Award from Frost & Sullivan
Delta Controls has received the Frost & Sullivan Best Practices Award for Product Innovation & Differentiation. What’s New for Lighting in the IECC 2009 Model Energy Code
IECC 2009 contains a number of changes impacting lighting for commercial buildings, including:
• Forced choice of compliance with entirety of IECC or 90.1
• Required circuiting for independent control of lighting in “daylight zones”
• Revision of additional retail display allowances
• Added exemptions to interior lighting wattage that must be counted for compliance
• Splitting the exterior power allowance using a system of outdoor lighting zones
• Clarifications and practical application language changes
