Lighting Controls Association Joins Consortium to Advise the Department of Energy on High-Performance Green Building Issues

In response to a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) request for consortia to advise the department on high-performance building issues, ASHRAE led the formation of the High-Performance Commercial Green Building Partnership (HPCGBP). This Consortium brings together leading organizations from all aspects of the building community to provide guidance and technical leadership on key sustainability issues to the Department of Energy’s Building Technologies Program.

The Lighting Controls Association has announced that Hubbell Building Automation, Inc. (HBA) has joined as a new member. Hubbell Building Automation, headquartered in Austin, TX and a subsidiary of Hubbell Incorporated, is a manufacturer of a wide range of lighting controls such as networked control systems, occupancy sensors, daylighting controls and hi-bay controls.

NEMA Announces Industry Initiative to Stimulate Energy-Saving Lighting Upgrades

The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) announced a new initiative today aimed at reducing energy use and costs in the 5 million existing commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings in the United States. The campaign, called “enLIGHTen America,” will target building owners, operators, and executives who make decisions about upgrading lighting products in un-renovated buildings.

NEMA Publishes Test Procedure for Compatibility of Hearing Aids and Ultrasonic Lighting Control Devices

The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) has published LC 1-2007 Test Procedure for Compatibility of Hearing Aids and Ultrasonic Lighting Control Devices. This standard provides a basis to evaluate the possible interactions between ultrasonic lighting control devices and hearing aids utilizing a set of test procedures. This evaluation can be used as the basis for specifying performance criteria for both hearing aids and occupancy sensors to eliminate interference.

Lighting Controls Association Adds EE204: Hi-Bay Lighting Upgrades to Education Express Program

The Lighting Controls Association (LCA) has announced the availability of EE204: Hi-Bay Lighting Upgrades, a new course added to its popular Education Express program. Residing at the Association’s website, Education Express provides in-depth education about lighting controls and controllable ballast technology, application, system design and commissioning, as well as meta-issues such as LEED, energy codes and other trends.
