Lutron Electronics Co., Inc. has expanded its line of fluorescent dimming ballasts with the introduction of Hi-lume 3D digital addressable dimming ballasts, the world’s only ballast that can dim lights to less than one percent and more than 100 percent illumination while upholding the efficiency of a non-dim ballast.
Watt Stopper/Legrand premieres the RT Series Time Switches as part of its new line of energy saving residential lighting controls to offer homeowners a full range of green, attractive and reliable control solutions. The timers replace standard light switches and can control either lighting or motor loads such as fans. Users turn the switch on by pressing the ON/OFF button. The switch turns the load off at the end of the timer’s countdown unless the user has chosen to turn it off earlier. The ON/OFF button is illuminated when the switch is off for easy location in darkened rooms.
The new Square D® Clipsal® Ethernet Network Interface Unit from Schneider Electric facilitates remote access to a Square D Clipsal C-Bus™ lighting control network for commercial building managers and system installers and integrators, through the convenience of the nearest Ethernet connection. High-speed control and monitoring of a network through TCP/IP protocols used in computer networks means system configuration and alterations are a seamless process.

Vermont-based manufacturer NRG Systems in 2005 built a new headquarters carefully crafted to reflect the company’s commitment to the environment, the community and its employees. The 46,550 square foot facility, which includes office, manufacturing and warehouse space for company-produced wind monitoring equipment, was designed to minimize environmental impacts and maximize energy conservation.
The first design goal was to find ways to minimize energy needs in all areas of building operation, including heating, cooling and lighting. The second goal was to provide as much energy from renewable sources as possible. Company owners were willing to make an upfront investment to ensure significant long-term savings.
Naomi Miller of Naomi Miller Lighting Design specified the electric lighting and Andy Shapiro of Energy Balance, Inc. developed the facility’s daylighting plan. The two designers collaborated with Watt Stopper/Legrand to select energy saving controls that would meet the ambitious criteria of the project.
The SYLVANIA QUICKTRONIC® POWERSENSE™ T5 dimming ballast provides controllable lighting and high-efficiency performance. POWERSENSE, with its micro-controller technology, is the industry’s most versatile dimming ballast, operating linear fluorescent T5 lamps over a wide (100-1 percent) dimming range.
Advance proudly announces that it has expanded its popular family of Optanium® high-efficiency electronic ballasts to include a new electronic ballast with Step-Dim capability for the operation of two 28 Watt T5 fluorescent lamps.
