The Lighting Controls Association is pleased to announce that EE110: Commissioning Lighting Controls, one of the Association’s popular online Education Express distance education courses, has been completely revised.
Residing here, Education Express provides in-depth education about lighting control and controllable ballast technology, application, system design and commissioning, as well as meta-issues such as commissioning, energy codes, daylight harvesting and other trends.
Commissioning is a quality assurance process that ensures a delivered project satisfies the owner’s project requirements and design intent. As a critical building system, lighting controls play a significant role in the process.
EE110: Commissioning Lighting Controls, authored by industry educator Craig DiLouie, LC, summarizes the Commissioning Process defined by ASHRAE and the Illuminating Engineering Society, then provides sample performance testing procedures for popular lighting control system types.
An optional online comprehension test is available at the end of each of the course’s four learning modules, with automatic grading; a passing grade enables the student to claim education credit. EE110: Lighting Control System Design is registered with:
* Starting February 1, 2013: AIA Continuing Education System LU/HSW/SD learning hours, with a passing grade of 80+% required to receive credit.
* The National Council on Quality in the Lighting Professions (NCQLP) Lighting Education Unit (LEU) credits towards maintenance of the NCQLP’s Lighting Certified (LC) certification, with a passing grade of 70+% required to receive credit.
If a student took EE110 before February 1, 2013, they will have until that date to download any completion certificates. After that, the record will be “wiped” and they are required to retake the course to earn education credit. The course’s four learning modules are accredited:
Part 1: Introduction to Commissioning, 2.5 LU/HSW/SD, 2.5 LEU
Part 2: Commissioning Occupancy Sensors, 1.5 LU/HSW/SD, 1.5 LEU
Part 3: Commissioning Panel-Based Time Sweep Controls, 1.0 LU/HSW/SD, 1.0 LEU
Part 4: Commissioning Daylight Harvesting Control Systems, 1.5 LU/HSW/SD, 1.5 LEU
