Three winning projects were selected for the DALI Award 2012. Staged for the fourth time by activity group (AG) DALI, the award was presented at the Light+Building trade show in Frankfurt am Main. The projects submitted were rated by a jury on the basis of the following criteria: energy efficiency, innovations in technology and design, emotional effects (color change possibilities, health and wellness applications), simplicity of installation, which is typical for DALI-systems, and installation saving costs.
The first prize went to the project Cinema Lido di Venezia (Italy), submitted by Osram SpA. The jury was impressed by the extraordinary lighting atmosphere, the commendable use of the technical possibilities of the DALI system and the energy efficiency of the project. The installation combines modern fluorescent and LED luminaires with a comfortable lighting management. The DALI system installed is designed for creating and controlling both static and dynamic lighting scenarios.
The second award was presented to Fifth Light Technology Ltd. (Canada) for their DALI application concerning the recently constructed Corus Quay facility on Toronto’s eastern waterfront. The eight-story glass clad structure takes full advantage of available daylight and was designed to achieve LEED Gold. The DALI lighting control system was designed to be flexible, adaptable and scalable.
The third award went to the DALI lighting installation at the Abu Dhabi campuses of Zayed University, submitted by Tridonic Middle East. Enhanced control for daylight and occupancy, significant cost savings and ease of configuration impressed the jury.
These winning projects, and all of the 26 submitted projects, are profiled on the DALI AG website here.
