The Lighting Controls Association is proud to announce that it has entered into a five-year agreement with the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) to sponsor a new Control Innovation Award as part of the IES’s prestigious Illumination Awards.

The Illumination Awards recognize professionalism, ingenuity and originality in lighting design. The new Control Innovation Award recognizes projects that exemplify the effective use of lighting controls in nonresidential applications.

The LCA helped draft the award criteria and will be represented in the judging process. Information about the award, with special criteria for submissions, can be found here: www.IES.org/programs/ia.cfm. The specific submittal criteria can be found here: http://www.ies.org/PDF/Awards/ia/LCA-Project-Entry-Suggestions.pdf.

Online submissions for the 2011 Illumination Awards program are being accepted January 18 through February 11, 2011. Final judging will take place on May 16, 2011 in Philadelphia during LIGHTFAIR International.Craig DiLouie, representing LCA, will participate in the judging of the award.

“The Lighting Controls Association is proud to partner with IES, the lighting authority, to recognize the role that good lighting control design plays in lighting design,” says Gary Meshberg, president of the LCA. “We’re excited about recognizing and promoting the industry’s best lighting design projects that exemplify the effective use of lighting controls to save energy, support visual needs, or both.”
