Leviton Manufacturing Company’s Wireless Occupancy Sensor System has been named by Buildings magazine among its top 100 products of the year. The magazine’s editorial staff reviewed thousands of products and awarded the designation to its top 100 choices on the basis of the following criteria: aesthetics, ease of use, durability/life-cycle, efficiency/applicability, universal appeal and sustainable/green elements. Winners will be featured in the magazine’s June issue. Buildings is read by nearly 75,000 building and facilities management decision-makers.
“Leviton is pleased to have its occupancy sensor system ranked among the top products of the year by Buildings’ editors. This is the perfect time- and labor-savings solution for our commercial customers who want to retrofit existing buildings for increased energy efficiency,” said Tom Leonard, Director of Marketing for Leviton’s Lighting Energy Management Systems.
The wireless sensor system includes occupancy sensors, remote switches, wall switches with integrated wireless receiver that automatically turn lights ON when occupancy is detected and OFF when the room is no longer occupied. The products provide a long service and trouble-free, “install-and-forget” operation. They are suitable for a wide range of commercial applications, including use in conference rooms, classrooms, open areas of buildings and private office spaces.
Ideal for retrofit applications, the wireless sensors, which can also be used in new construction applications, make installation quick, easy and highly affordable. “With no wires to run, installation costs can be as much as 50% less than conventional hardwired systems. The installer simply replaces the existing wall switches with the wireless receiver switches and installs the matching occupancy sensor and the installation is completed. It’s that easy,” Leonard added.
For flexible operation, the wireless sensors include an automatic shutoff feature that lets users set the time-to-shut-off to match their precise requirements. The sensors also include an integrated solar cell that provides power from the ambient light in the room, eliminating the need for batteries. The receiver switches are rated up to 10 amps 120-277V 50/60 Hz and are available in white, ivory, grey, brown, black and light almond.
